A leading Melbourne fencing specialist has created a stylish new estate entrance fence for one of the city's foremost residential estate developments. Tom Nikolson from Oz Colour Fencing drew on his extensive steel fencing experience to create a unique fence for the entrance to Cobblestone Village at Caroline Springs.

The fence reflects the high aesthetic standards demanded by Delfin, which has created Caroline Springs as a showpiece of fully featured urban development.

Oz Colour Fencing developed the new design to take full advantage of the durability, good looks and low maintenance qualities of COLORBOND® steel.

Mr Nikolson said the system was designed around the traditional "ripple iron" style of the LYSAGHT MINISCREEN® fencing system which uses infill panels made from COLORBOND® steel in the stylish mini-corrugated profile.

"The LYSAGHT MINISCREEN® system gave us the main panels, but this fence called for a more substantial and imposing appearance as it flanks the main entrance to Cobblestone Village," he said. "We combined the LYSAGHT MINISCREEN® panels with a very strong and visually appealing framework of powder coated pre-galvanised steel to get the right look. The resulting design has been so well received that Delfin has been happy to adopt variations on the Cobblestone Village fence for its estates at Craigieburn and Pakenham."

Oz Colour Fencing used Grey Ridge® for the colour of the infill panels and combined it with Primrose for the powder coated posts, rails, fretwork and plinth. Posts are 100 mm square for a particularly solid appearance, and the fretwork is made from special 75 mm x 16 mm hollow steel sections welded into place for extra strength and durability. Completing the imposing appearance is a plinth of 150 mm x 25 mm steel C-section channel, while a neat mid-height stiffener from the LYSAGHT MINISCREEN® system adds further strength behind the scenes.

Mr Nikolson said the great virtue of the all-steel fence was its durability and low maintenance. "If you compare it with other fences of a similar age, it's easy to see why people like steel fencing," he said. "The longer it's there, the more obvious the benefit becomes - the panels made from COLORBOND® steel and all the other components just keep on looking good for year after year."
