LYSAGHT NEETALOK® Cyclonic Fencing

NEETALOK® Fencing - Western Australia

Product Description and Features

The modular LYSAGHT NEETALOK® fence is one of the most versatile and durable fencing systems you can buy. The COLORBOND® prepainted steel finish with vertical ribbed LYSAGHT TRIMDEK® panels provide strength and simple assembly.

LYSAGHT NEETALOK® fences are specifically designed not to fly apart during a cyclone. This means they are much safer than standard fences. However, cyclonic wind conditions can be so extreme that LYSAGHT NEETALOK® fences cannot be guaranteed to survive a cyclone.

  • Posts, rails and panel colours can be mixed and matched for attractive combinations
  • Total component system means quick and simple installation
  • Termite and rot resistant
  • May be stepped or raked on sloping ground
Note:
  • Cyclonic wind conditions can be so extreme that LYSAGHT NEETALOK® fences cannot be guaranteed to survive a cyclone
  • Available in Western Australia only
  • Should not be used within 1 km of salt marine locations, severe industrial or unusually corrosive environments
  • Check local council regulations for use in pool areas
  • Should not be used around the pool splash zone
  • Garden chemicals should not come in contact with fencing
  • Bottom rail should be kept clear of debris
  • Read our Guidelines for using COLORBOND® steel & ZINCALUME® steel.

I've heard that COLORBOND® steel should not be immersed in concrete. How will this affect my LYSAGHT® fence posts?

Most fences feature galvanised steel posts and COLORBOND® steel infill sheets. Immersing the galvanised steel posts in concrete does not cause any corrosion problems but you should not allow the concrete to contact the rails or infill sheets of the fence. Check with your fencing supplier.

What do I do if my LYSAGHT® fence gets scratched? Will scratches lead to corrosion?

It is best not to touch up minor damage, such as scratches, with paint. Minor scratches will not affect the performance of your fence because the galvanised and aluminium/zinc coatings effectively protect any cut edges or scratches from corrosion.

Can I use LYSAGHT® fencing in a saltwater environment near the ocean?

COLORBOND® steel fences should not be installed within 1 kilometre of marine, severe industrial or other corrosive environments.

Can LYSAGHT® fencing be used as a retaining wall?

No. LYSAGHT® fencing has not been designed or tested for use in this application. It is highly likely the soil will cause corrosion of the COLORBOND® steel.

Can I use COLORBOND® steel fencing around my pool?

You should check with your local council for regulations on fences around pool areas. Particular care needs to be taken if COLORBOND® steel is to be installed within the 'splash zone'. Both salt and chlorine may have a corrosive effect on the COLORBOND® steel finish and as such, may negate a warranty claim.

How do I maintain my fence made from COLORBOND® steel to ensure long life?

Your fence is very easy to maintain. Here's a few tips to make sure it keeps looking great.

  • Wipe or hose it down regularly – at least once every six months or more if you live in a coastal area (water restrictions permitting). Pay particular attention to cleaning dirt or debris from under the top rail where rain doesn’t naturally wash.
  • Remove cobwebs using a soft broom. This will deal with any spiders.
  • Don’t let soil, dirt and garden debris build up at the base of the fence or next to the posts and rails. This will retain water and can lead to corrosion.
  • Be careful not to spray the fence with garden chemical sprays or fertilisers as these can damage the surface. If this happens, wash the fence down with water immediately.
  • Don’t use your fence as a retaining wall. It isn’t designed for this purpose.
