Specifying Sustainability

Building Tomorrow's Eco-Friendly Homes Today

Are you considering building or renovating your home? As someone who cares deeply about sustainability, I believe it's important to have access to high-quality, eco-friendly materials and systems when designing and building a new project. From renewable construction materials to energy-efficient systems, creating a home conscious of sustainability should be at the heart of any new building project.

At Nadine K Drafting & Design, I am committed to making conscience decisions that positively impact both the environment and the client. By aligning my work with the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals, I am contributing directly to six out of seventeen goals through our home designs, building partnerships, and donation support.

But why is sustainable home design so important? As we learn more about how our choices impact the longevity of our environment, it's up to us as designers to specify sustainable materials that don't burden the client financially. By choosing sustainability conscious options, you can significantly reduce your power bills, making your home more valuable in the long run.

When designing a home, sustainability determines the fundamental core design principles. From the orientation of the land to energy-efficient glass, solar panels, water tanks, green roofs, recyclable materials, sustainably harvested wood, and locally sourced materials, everything plays a vital role in creating a sustainable home. That's why I use LYSAGHT ® steel building products made from materials such as COLORBOND® steel and ZINCALUME® steel, which are manufactured using 100% Australian-made steel, in many of my designs.

Designing with sustainability in mind not only preserves our planet's resources but also helps to maintain ourselves by ensuring the future of humanity. It is our responsibility as designers to make sure that projects are taken on thoughtfully, using materials sourced from reliable and like-minded suppliers who recognise the importance of eco-friendly solutions and intentions. Sustainable design requires research and collaboration between the client, contractor, and engineer, but it can be worth the effort if done right.

So, let's take the initiative and create a more sustainable tomorrow for all of us. By specifying materials like LYSAGHT ® for your roofing and walling, you are making a positive impact on the environment while also benefiting financially in the long run.
