Following BlueScope’s launch of next generation ZINCALUME® steel, Lysaght has commenced supplying our unpainted product range using next generation ZINCALUME® steel AM125 where previously original ZINCALUME® steel AZ150 would have been used . Next generation ZINCALUME® steel AM125 is guaranteed by BlueScope to meet AS1397 and the ‘deemed to satisfy’ requirements of the Building Code of Australia for applications such as roofing and walling.

We are currently updating the Lysaght website and brochures to reflect this change. In the meantime, where the enclosed literature makes reference to ZINCALUME® the reader should note that this may refer to the previous version of the product.

Due to its increased corrosion performance compared to original ZINCALUME® steel AZ150, roofing applications made from next generation ZINCALUME® steel AM125 will be backed by an improved warranty of up to 36 years.*

  • Next generation ZINCALUME® aluminium/zinc/ magnesium alloy coated steel complies with AS1397:2011 G550, AM125 (550 MPa minimum yield stress, 125 g/m2 minimum coating mass)
  • COLORBOND® is prepainted steel for exterior roofing and walling. It is the most widely used. The painting complies with AS/NZS 2728:2013 and the steel base is an aluminium/zinc alloy-coated steel complying with AS 1397:2011. Minimum yield strengths are G550 (550MPa), or G300 (300MPa) depending on profile. Minimum coating mass is AM100 (100g/m2)
  • COLORBOND® Metallic is prepainted steel for superior aesthetic qualities displaying a metallic sheen.
  • COLORBOND® Ultra is prepainted steel for severe coastal or industrial environments (generally within about 100-200 metres of the source). The painting complies with AS/NZS 2728:2013 and the steel base is an aluminium/ zinc alloy-coated steel complying with AS 1397:2011. Minimum coating mass is AM150 (150g/m2)
  • COLORBOND® Stainless is a pre-painted steel and is used for severe and coastal environments. The painting complies with AS/NZS 2728:2013 and the steel base is a stainless steel complying with AISI/ASTM Type 430; UNS No. S43000.

FAQs

Can LYSAGHT SPANDEK® be curved?

LYSAGHT SPANDEK® can be sprung curved. The sheets are delivered in straight lengths but curved as they are installed onto the supports, to form a curved roof. See our manual on how to Install LYSAGHT® Steel Roofing & Walling for more details.

How does LYSAGHT SPANDEK® compare to LYSAGHT CUSTOM ORB®?

LYSAGHT SPANDEK® is a deeper cladding and therefore, has a greater spanning ability and higher water carrying capabilities. However, because it is a deeper cladding, it cannot be sprung curved to the same tight curves as LYSAGHT CUSTOM ORB®.

What is cladding and how does it relate to roofing and walling?

Cladding is a collective term for any sheeting that covers a building, whether it be on the roof of the building, or on the walls. Roof cladding is made from thicker steel and is rolled to a profile capable of supporting roof traffic*. In most cases, these roof claddings can also be used for walling as well. Wall cladding is made from thinner steel, rolled to a less rigid profile. They are generally not capable of supporting roof traffic, prohibiting their use as roofing.

*Some roofing is designed to be non-trafficable. Please consult the span and capacity tables of the cladding for further details.
