It’s our biggest facade transformation ever!

House 16 is the one we’ve all been waiting for - our very own Erin’s family home renovation. Erin wanted to transform her tired looking brick home into a modern-day Urban Farmhouse with wow-factor and street appeal.

Erin’s house had great bones but the brick exterior and terracotta roof were dated and the whole home lacked the classic charm and character we needed to bring the vision to life. Choosing the building materials that could help us achieve this look was crucial to transform the facade, including cladding, stone walling, fresh new paint, new black window frames and a new steel roof.

Without a doubt, the biggest part of this epic facade transformation is the addition of the new roof. This house has A LOT of roof and because it’s positioned slightly lower than the road, you can see almost every inch of it as you approach the property.

Inspired by American farmhouses, we had our hearts set on steel roofing to bring the country barn-like look to life, and the moment we laid eyes on LYSAGHT SNAPSEAM™ we knew it would be the perfect product to achieve this. The contrast of the wide and chunky 340mm steel panels, wide flat pans with the low but substantial rib which give it a striking but clean look - it's a perfect solution for a contemporary architectural design.

LYSAGHT SNAPSEAM™ is ideal for a large roof like this because the individual panels offer greater flexibility for longer lengths and greater spanning capacity thanks to its clever concealed fix clips. Our tradies loved it too because the clip fixed installation method makes it easy to install and it comes pre-painted, so there’s one less job for the painters. We chose the colour Basalt, a beautiful deep cool grey that works well with the exterior paint colour (Dulux Grey Port) and the black window frames (Stegbar).

TBR at Front Door

From our experience in the industry, roofs are often overlooked in exterior renovations. Roofs do so much more than keeping your family safe and dry, they can make or break the whole vision for a home and can totally transform an exterior. In fact, changing the roof can be a key feature of the home’s design, like it was in this case.

Whether you’re renovating or building from scratch, if you’re considering a new roof for your home, be sure to check out Lysaght’s extensive range of steel roofing products. They’ve been manufacturing steel building products in Australia for over 100 years and all their products go through rigorous testing to ensure they’re compliant to Australian standards.

The LYSAGHT SNAPSEAM™ roof we chose is manufactured from COLORBOND® steel so you know it’s fire-resistant, termite-proof and won’t warp. It is long lasting and is backed by generous warranties.

You’ll love Lysaght roofing if you’re looking for a low maintenance solution that comes in a large range of profiles with many colours to choose from and the good news is that Lysaght has branches, dealers and installers across Australia who can provide advice on what product is right for you. We found their guidance on profiles really helpful for our latest project and we’re sure that you will too.
